Multiple race winner in the Hot Hatch Championship in 2017 and previously the Novice Champion in 2016 in his rookie season in motorsport within the Stock Hatch Championship where he finished an impressive 4th place overall. Rob Fagg has been a regular podium finisher with a total of 10 podium finishes in his first 2 years of racing, and was awarded ‘Driver of the Day’ on 4 occasions in his rookie season. He also finished as runner-up in the John Miles Novice Driver Award in 2016. Driver:

Paul Kaynes – 47 Years old from Haywards Heath in West Sussex (aka Kaynesie) –

2017 was Paul’s rookie year racing on the circuits having raced on and off for a number of years on short circuit ovals in various contact and non-contact formulas. Paul has many wins and podiums on his CV from the ovals, but was both surprised and delighted to have finished 6th overall in his first Hot Hatch Championship, also winning the “Novice of the Year 2017” trophy for MACAW Motorsports. Paul takes his racing very seriously and has already begun preparations for the 2018 season with his car undergoing a number of upgrades and regular winter testing happening as we speak. We hope and expect Kaynesie will build on an impressive start to his Hot Hatch career in 2018 and that podium will be a busy place for our MACAW boys…

Driver:

Chris Woods – 36 Years old from Cuckfield in West Sussex (aka Benny) –

At the age of just 12, Chris started racing short circuit Ministox where he gained star grade status and enjoyed many race wins. In 1997 Chris graduated from the juniors and joined the adults where he has raced and won extensively in a variety of formulas for the past 20 years. Building and racing his own cars Chris becoming a multiple champion in 1300 stock cars where he was a “star driver” for over a decade. A particularly good 2005/2006 season saw Chris win the Western Championship, London Championship, Best in Britain Championship and the British Championship too, not a bad season at all. Other seasons saw similar achievements on the ovals, but you get the point…..this lad can drive!! Looking for a new challenge, Chris was a mechanic for MACAW in 2017, to get involved and to see if circuit racing might be the new challenge he was looking for. It most definitely was, he was hooked and MACAW are pleased to announce that Chris will be out for what will be his Rookie season in a new Saxo VTR – Hot Hatch in 2018, where we hope he will secure the Highest Placed Novice Award for MACAW…

Mark Freeman – 36 Years old from Redhill in Surrey

Mark Freeman started racing in 1995 at the age of 13 years old, racing in a Mini at his local GrassTrack Club. Mark became the junior points champion by 1997 and runner up in the adults division in 2000. After this Mark moved to Spedeworth Stockrod Racing in a Vauxhall Nova, achieving superstar grade and many race wins along the way. In 2007 Mark moved on to race a full space-framed 2ltr HotRod , again attaining superstar grade with multiple podium finishes in 4 out of 5 points championships, including winning the Seahaven points title in his first year, after which he continued racing on and off for couple years.

Then in 2009 Mark sold up all the racing cars, trailer and parts to buy a house, get married and start a family, which meant spare time on his hands. Mark then started helping maintain and set up friends and families race cars which evolved into starting Mark Freeman Race Car Prep, working full time from May 2014.

Chief Amazement Officer:

Alan Cox – 39 Years Old from Sutton in Surrey (aka Big Al) –

Alan was originally involved with supporting multiple short-oval drivers, helping them at race meetings and between events, which also eventually led to him contesting in the occasional Domestic Banger meetings at his local Wimbledon Stadium, with the odd win and trophy to his name. With his short-lived racing career behind him, Alan can still be found getting his hands dirty at the occasional short-oval race meeting thought the year, and now also with his MACAW team mates on the national circuits. Be sure to look for the guy with either a beer, BBQ tongs or the occasional spanner in his hand. Alan looks after MACAW’s online presence, and any of the random requests from the team which are for the less mechanically minded…
